My girlfriend is getting fed up with being beaten off the line by less powerfull cars! The reason being is that it does seem impossible to make a quick launch in our Turbo 2. When you pull away, you get a flat spot where pretty much nothing happens. Once you\'re through this, is goes fine, there\'s no issue with power, unfortunately though, whatever else you were next to has long gone by the time you get the power on. I\'ve tried myself and it just resulted in a horrid stench of burning clutch! It\'s obvious to me that this can\'t be the case for everyone so any ideas peeps? The engine has covered less than 8000miles since rebulid so that hopefully shouldnt be an issue. I\'ve run it through with fuel injection cleaner recently but that has made no difference?

Hi Phil!

Hmmmm, an interesting one.

Not sure what you mean by flat spot? do you mean the engine feels like it is missing or something? or it suddenly starves for fuel?

How old is the clutch?

Couple of things you could try, replace the spark plugs, replace the fuel filter, do you know when the injectors were last cleaned?

From memory the 2nd gens. can launch pretty hard - so I\'m sure it can be sorted.
Thanks,

Hi Glen, it\'s not missing or anything, the best way to describe it is like a huge amount of Turbo lag, but it\'s at too lower revs to be that. As soon as you pull away it just wont go properly for a second or two. The plugs havent been changed since we got it so will do that.

Does the car have a boost gauge?
Thanks,

Mine seems slightly the same I ,put it down to the very rich Idle,
sort of rev past that and dump the clutch for quick pullaways
Bet you have no cats or air pump?

This is \'nt helping though is it?

hi.

the rotor engine doesnt have torque so there is no point trying to drive away fast from 1000rpm. the real power comes on around 2500\'3000.  blip the trottle get some revs in the power band and dump the clutch and floor it . if you car isnt spinning the wheels and your neck isnt straining then you clutch is slipping. eeeeeaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzzyyy

The car has a cat replacement pipe but still has the air pump on it. The only problem with revving it up to 2500rpm and dumping the clutch is it somewhat gives the game away to the other car that you are \'up for it\':D  and isnt too easy on the clutch! I\'m used to the rotary\'s lack of torque but this seems to be something else.
