W80 YAU

Hi everyone, my name is William and im from Scotland.

Currently i own a jdm DC2 Integra Type R which i have being doing a turbo build but when it was in for mapping last Wednesday, the bearings went on the bottom end leaving me with a choice of either continue with it and forge engine (estimated another 2k for parts and labour cost) or break it and move onto an RX7 which im really considering doing as i have actually lost interest in the integra. It\'s already been SORNed for 10 months and realistically ill be looking at another year before it sees the road as im saving up for a Japan trip in January.

Since getting into cars at the age of 15, ive always been an Evo fan wanting a Evo 9 FQ360 but since about 3/4 years ago i met one of my closest friend Michael Yau (YAU730). We\'re not actually related but we like to think of being fake cousins hah. Anyways he showed me the insight into world of rotary and since then, ive decided i want rotary in my life. My ambition is to have a single turbo bridgeported 7.

I will decide by next month what to do, until then ive signed up to gain more info and learn more about owning and running a wankel engine and become a part of this community.

Thanks Will

Hi Will, welcome along, Michael\'s cousin? hehe
I\'m sure you\'ve picked up some things along Michael\'s windy road to his T51 build.
If you do go for a rotary worth seeing what members cars are for sale first before hitting piston heads etc.
2 doritos on a stick woohoo :rollin

Hi   welcome:Thumbs-up

Thanks for welcome.

L18M... we\'re not actually, just like to think we are.
Yeh i\'ve gained some knowledge of these engines and have a certain Japanese Performance mag that covers rotaries but still a vast amount to learn.
Yeh that\'s another reason for signing as when time comes, i can look what\'s for sale on here as no doubt they will all be well looked after :)

Welcome to MRC Will, we have HUGE archive of knowledge from our members that should give you an insight on why so many are passionate about Rotarys :wave
All the best Clive

Where in Scotland are you ??

W80 YAU

Thanks Clive. That\'s ideal as when time comes for me to go buy one, i can find out what to look out for for a decent one.

Hi im from just outside Glasgow.

I\'d suggest thinking about what you want to use the car for, road and/or track and how much it\'s a tool to get from place to place, and how much it\'s a toy.

Then how much power you want, the standard twin turbos can be taken up to ~350hp, then people typically convert to a larger single turbo to go beyond that (but also because it\'s simpler).  If you\'re determined to get a 500hp car then that focuses your choice, similarly if you want something close to stock.

Finally budget, generally decent cars lie between £5k and £9k I think, depending on age, condition and state of tune.

Hi thanks for the advice.
Generally i want an all rounder... road and abit of track.
Nice aero kit (looks good but functional) and a liveable interior so not stripped. Well set up suspension for track and as for performance, anywhere in between 350-500hp is the goal. Fast and fun but not too extreme.

The 7 will be more of a toy, used every now and then but not daily.

Budget wise, im hoping to spend at least 6k. Ideally after a standard one... dont mind aesthetics/chassis mods but preferably the engine standard :)

from Glasgow myself, not many rx7\'s around here, only seen two in the last few years.  Best to get one as stock as possible that way you can do everything yourself and know it\'s all good.

just as a warning, if you have any problems with it there isn\'t many places that know about rx7\'s, there is the garage in wishaw but i\'d avoid it like the plague.  Never had a good experience and neither have other people who have taken rotaries in that I know.

i\'d say you can take a look at mine but huge reduction in hours at work has meant not much work has been done on it recently.

Yeh that\'s the plan, get a standard one and start from scratch... that was i know what its been through and stuff.

Yeh i know of The Garage, seen a few 7s there. I\'ve never used them before, my mechanic is Andrew Baird of Automek in EK. Yeh i probs just go to Pip at WGT for certain work but in terms of BP i might even travel further down.

Your\'s isnt a black one is it?? Seen a black one at SCS few weeks back that i havent seen before.

nope mine is red with white headlight covers (waiting to get them resprayed)

HEY GUYSSS.... IM BACK

Well it has been a pretty interesting year since i last been on here.

As some will know, i was looking for an Rx7 last year just after summer.
Basically i had a small dilemma... i didnt 100% had a daily although i had access to another car so i wasnt sure if i would've needed to run my own car daily at times i.e to get to work and stuff so i wasnt sure if i was ready to get one.

In the end, i decided to stick to piston for now and got myself a gunmetal grey R32 GTR from JM Imports back in February this year.
It couldn't have been a better choice i picked. Looks wise was pretty stock but mechanical wise has a few Nismo bits. Got stuck in a bought a set of Enkei RPF1s, lowered it on BC coilovers and made it roar with a Tomei titanium decat and Expreme titanium exhaust.

I have thoroughly loved it but it's pretty much became a toy to me now as i have a daily and since the rotary itch came back again... i've finally bitten the bullet and im swapping the GTR for the 7 that i've been lusting for :D

I CANNOT WAIT to get it and become another rotary owner... my dream has come true. Guess this is the best xmas ill have to date haha ;D
