Has anyone much track experience with the FD? I need to buy some new tyres and am currently looking at the Toyo R888 and Yoko A539\'s which seem too good to be true at £80 a corner!
Anyone got any other ideas?

Where are you doing the trackday?  I did one a couple of week ago at Elvington Airfield (York) and it absolutely chewed my tyres.  Makes it a very expensive day...

Yes, airfields are known to be bad for that.

You shouldnt use new tyres on track anyway as that kills them off quickly.  You wnat to use some that are already well scrubbed in.

I found killing the brakes more of a problem than tyres.

Wet tack day or dry track day?

Huge difference - something like DO1J\'s or other street-legal slick tyre is great if it\'s dry but makes it almost impossible to drive hard with much moisture - doesn\'t take standing water to make them difficult.

Either have 2 set of wheels and choose according to the conditions or go for something with better wet attributes - if you pay £250+ for a track day and end up sitting most of it out (or worse pranging the car) you\'ll regret the tyres.  You can push the car hard on \'normal\' tyres and have fun...

don\'t forget ultimate grip is not always best ... the most forgiving tyres are those that will allow plenty of slip before they let go properly.

I just used the eagle f1s round the ring.. they stuck great! :)
