I need some advice on ducting my Xs power intercooler. But there is very little space to get some ducting In as the rad is too big. Pip said it would be fine if I just moved the relay box at the front of the car. The gap doesn\'t seem big enough to me. And also when the fan comes in it will be blowing on the ducting. Is this ok?

If someone car help me with what they have done it will be a big help. It\'s not the best pic but you can see how close the rad is to the intercooler

Cardboard the way to go for fabing up. Id enclose from the slam panel to the top of the intercooler and box the sides in. The fans should only be running when in traffic so you would be off boost so when they run they pull through rad and push through ic With a cold air feed to intercooler should negate the hot air from the rad. I see what your saying its tight most people end up with v set up which works the best. Pip will sell them  ( rad and ic set up)as i watched that on wheeler dealers!
Another poss is a 30mm lip all round ic to enclose airflow so it cant escape round side. Air will take the easiest path hi pressure to low pressure

Cheers boosted. Il give it ago. Would you reccomend putting some ducting at the bottom on the ic bringing it up to the slam panel? I\'m guessing sheet aluminium is best to do this with?

Yes mate if theres a gap between undertray and bottom of ic.or blank from bottom of ic to undertray or lip. Is it possible to move the ic back by shortening the ic hard pipe to give you some more room?
When i done mine yep a pita.

could you stretch to a v mount set up? Fix and forget . If you want a bit more boost when remapped only way to go.

Idealy I want a vmount set up. But money is tight ATM. They are quite expensive. and I can\'t find any 2nd hand set ups for sale either. Are the vmounts better than a fmic?

V mount defo better than front mount on an fd.

Is that because the way the rad sits aswell that it makes it better than a fmic. Il keep my eyes open for a setup. Cheers for the info. Appreciated.

In a v they both get primary air whearas front mount which ever is behind gets secondary air that has passed through the ic or rad. Mine was front mounted ic and the rad  behind and i always had to keep an eye on coolant temps....fine for road but on track using the power not enough airflow. Vmount and apexi prob best 2 mods imo for a healthy reliable fd.

So with a vmount it doesn\'t need ducting or anything does it? Iv always thought the vmount setup looks wierd and seems quite mind boggling how it works. Iv put an ad in the wanted section for a vmount Setup so let\'s see if any come available :)

Is it not worth trying to front mount the xs power 1? Also if I get a fmic will I have to adjust the rad so it sits behind the ic upright? Or could I leave the rad on the angle like it is now?

Unsure tbh, youll have to fab ic pipes and make room and brackets to support the ic.  The bumper will have to come off. risk damaging paint, losing shutlines etc. Is there anyway to get a cold air feed from the front to it?

I\'m try and do my best with the ducting for now untill I can afford a vmount set up. It\'s just were to duct. From the bottom at top of the ic to the slam panel and box the sides off and make kind of a square air flow. If I duct the ic from the bottom then when the fans come on they will be blowing on the aluminium ducting, and I think the air will be rebounding  back into the fans?
