Rx8 Gearbox querie

hi need some info i race a rx7 fd and fitted a rx8 box been all good but thinking of fitting an quick shifter = Axial Flow Short Shifter for 6 Speed RX8 .but they do two types of quick shifts
 how do i know what type to get is there two types of gearbox  mk1 or mk2( i don\'t know the year the box is from ) is there two types of rx8 6 speed gearbox if so whats the difference

Hi mate there are 5 speeds and 6 speeds series 1 and series 2 gearboxes. I to was looking at rx8 boxes as have a ser 1 6 speed  in my westfield. I know the series 1 are aisin boxes cant help with the ser 2. Suspect you have ser 1 as alot more availble. Is the rx8 box shorter than the rx7? Have you used a link?

You need a pre-R3 2004-2008 6 Speed box as the R3 box is a different box and many had issues while under warranty.

have a series 1 rx8 box is roughly the same size/ but gear stick is closer to the dash , thanks for the help
