smoke from turbos

wondering if someone could help me a bit here.

swapped over an engine from one fd to another, when i got it started, there was a ton of smoke from the exhaust and a fair bit from the turbos them self, i removed the turbos (standard twins) to find i could basically pull the turbine around with it hitting on the side walls etc.
after changing to another set with no shaft play, i started the car again, no smoke from the exhaust, but after a minute or 2 the turbos start to smoke again, i haven\'t left it running for too long as i didn\'t want to cause damage to anything.
also the smoke smells like burning oil, but a little bit like clutch burn? :3Confused

is this normal after changing the turbos over? is there a problem? if so can someone point me in the right direction to fix it? or if anyone has any information at all that may me helpful I\'d very much appreciate it

If there was allot of smoke from the exhaust there is a good chance the oil from the bad Turbo hasn\'t burnt off yet.

Even though there\'s no smoke from the exhaust using the new turbos? It seems to be the actual turbo\'s themselfs smoking

That\'s normal, it\'s just oil that was on your hands etc, just check there\'s no leaks and it should stop smoking 15 minutes after its heated up to normal temp.

Just dont drive it until you have checked for leaks or the smoke has stopped.

Thanks grizzy!! Is there a particular method to check for leaks which works best? Or is it just stick your head in there and look haha
