I own a RX7 FD3S but about to buy a RX-8 aswell.

What are the servces and oil changes involed and what type to use? will it be the same as the RX7 as its the same engine afterall apart from the rx7 being turbo charged?

The recommended intervals for servicing the rx8 are crap.
Well they are when it comes to oil, oil filter and plug changes
Oil and filter should ideally be 3000-4000miles (but no more than 6000miles max) intervals
Plugs changes vary between owners, those that are sensible about ownership will change them at intervals between 2 years/24k and 1 year/12k miles though Carl Hayward stipulates 6month/6000mile plug change intervals
Oil should ideally be 10w40 or 15w40 in a mineral grade though MRP\'s synionic oil blend is very good
One other item your going to want to be checking are the RX8 ignition coil packs, they seem to have a flaw in their design from the early spec coils (with the part number ending in "100") owners have seen coils fail as early as 20\'000miles and I  sure you will agree that\'s not good.
Most owners on the RX8OC and here recommend you change your coils out at least every 30\'000miles the newer "100b" spec coils are a lot better but prevention is better than an engine rebuild caused by long term coil failure.
Lastly get rid of the nasty OEM HT leads and get some Magnacore leads on there. If you have changed coils and plugs they your leads are the last weak link in the ignition chain.
You may want to consider the Black Halo Racing Ignition upgrade kit as these should not need changing out but the price from BHR in the us is about $500 plus I term atonal shipping (but does include a set of MSD HT leads) I now run the BHR Kit and love them.

Last thing may be brake fluid if your planning on driving it hard all the time or doing some track days.

All the other service items should be fine to stick to the 12\'500 miles or 12 month interval schedule.

Hope this helps

Completely agree with Aston\'s post above, I have just purchased \'100B\' (latest revision coils) and Magnecore 8mm leads for my RX8. My car is a 2009 R3 with 19,000 miles on the clock and my Catalytic converter has just been replaced. I suspect unused fuel getting into the exhaust was the cause and am therefore upgrading my ignition system as a precaution. I have also purchased the Rotary Formula syonic oil too and plan to change that, after just 5,000 miles of driving

Don\'t forget who to call when you need that oil change Greg
