oil catch can

just a quick question, my fc has a oil catch can on it.
Is it normal to get a little oil inside?
The can also has a small breather filter on the top of it,
i have noticed a small amount of oil coming out of the filter after taking the car out for a blast the other day.
Could i just remove the filter and block it off?, because most catch cans ive seen on other cars dont have a filter on them.

sorry if this sounds slightly patronising, its an "oil catch tank" thats what its supposed to do, stops the engine getting any oil particles going back through the breather system but to be honest isint really neccesary especially on a rotary as its designed to use oil, but it looks cool and for the breather they all have a vent of some description either a filter or back into the breather system
