Appologies to those on FDUK as I\'ve already posted there but I\'m starting to loose my sanity...

I recently installed a new head unit, something I\'ve done on other cars in the past without problems. Everything went smoothly except for the fact that I can\'t seem to locate the ariel lead.

The old HU was a double DIN Jap OEM type so I had always put the radio not working properly to a lack of band expander but there didn\'t seem to be an ariel lead connected when I pulled it out. That said, it could have unplugged itself in the removal process.

I\'ve now looked twice, spending over an hour trying to find my missing lead but without any luck!! I don\'t want to have to start pulling trim off to find it but it\'s getting that way.

Surely someone must know where the cable runs, in which case I might be able to pick it up somewhere and trace it back without having to do a hatchet job to my trim?

(fingers crossed)

To the left of your leg when sat in the drivers seat, there is a piece of trim that is easily removed. Check behind there. You may find two arial plugs, you actually need a socket. Cut the largest socket off and replace it with a plug, however be warned. The center of the coax lead is more of a filament then a wire.

All in all its far easier to run another lead, thats what I did! Took about 3/4 hour from start to finish. Grab an arial extension lead of about 3m and the jobs agoodun. Alternatively make one from standard 75ohm coax which is what I did. Cost about £150 including a plug and socket!

Bingo! excellent advice. Initially after looking where you suggested I found only the small one but a bit more digging around that area turned up the elusive antenna.

Nice one fella!

Just got to rewire my turbo timer and fit it into my recently purchased universal DIN pocket and jobs-a-goodun`, one nice tidy car.
