Doing the same conversion myself.

You will need to swap the following

- engine loom from 97 engine onto 93 engine
- rats nest solenoids system from 97 to 93

Or you could use the ecu for the 93 car :)

Apart from that there were not really any more differences I\'m aware of yet :)

Thank you rx7boy!!!

nice one sounds ok then
I was thinking about using the 93 ECU as I will assume its set up for the engine. The rats nest has been removed. It’s not my car but if it was I think I would have run it stock and probably rebuild the engine as don’t really know of its past. It definitely runs and pulls like a train but I’m a bit anal and I’m of the belief that it’s better to do maintenance than fix!! but my mate just wants to do the swap. I will make him do a compression test and get it on a rolling rd to check how it’s running.:)  If we get it running lol :)

rx7boy

just be aware If you have removed rats nest you will need to be using a apexi otherwise the standard ecu will throw an error code and go into limp mode

i believe you can jump the plugs in the rats nest(if removed) with resistors to avoid the error code.

you may find the horseshoe loom around the front of the car different to,I have three, two from same year are even different, inc the plugs

Thanks rx7boy & oyvindjs

what do you think would be best use the 97 stock ECU or use the 93 ECU, what would you guys do?

I’m now tempted just to plug all the 97 sensors into the 93 engine if they fit which rx7boy has already said they will as this sounds like it will be plug and play, this would save a lot of time as there will be no need to sort the wiring out.
I think the Rats nest cabling has been jumped with resistors.

RobMatthews
yes I think this would be likely as the ECU connectors are different I would of assumed other things are also....

RobMatthews

have you got the engine loom from the 97 car?
If so I would be going with that, you would also benifit from the 16bit ecu then to

Robmatthews, it\'s the cars actual owner here :P the passenger rear light cover was smashed to s**t in the accident, the centre one (if I remember correctly) has a few chips, but the drivers side is fine which you are welcome too once the engine swap has been done :)

I\'m planning on breaking the remainder of the black car once I\'m finish so if you need anything else just shout :)

RobMatthews
