A few months ago while i had a big crack in my rad i the (standard) temp gauge went upto max and stayed there for about 25 seconds before i could pull over (this was because i was on the inside lane of hammersmith roundabout:( ), is it likely that i did massive damage, as some people seem to think this is the case.

My car is currently having a new front wing fitted after the hgv incident but before i get the car back i was wondering if i did much damage, the engine seems fine but im paranoid that this one overheating incident could have eaten my engine:confused:

I have no luck with cars!

Sometimes you get lucky but as Brian say the theory most likely is it will be fine for a few months and then possible symptons will begin for a rebuild.

This is why a Power FC is important on these cars, the power FC would have shown you temp rise straight away as the "stock" temp gauge only moves when the water temp is already too high.:(

can u use a guage with the pfc insted of the comander??? it would be good to have an actualy temp guage on the dash runnign from the pfc?

The power FC tells you the water temp???

If you mount it correcty very visible, but i guess if need be then you can mount another tem gauge??

Unfortunately it was a case of not being able to get hold of a new rad for 2 weeks, bloody useless rotary specialists!

I wanted an alu rad from dragon anyway but ross was away in japan at that time:(

cheer up fly, don\'t listen to brian... It\'ll all be fine... When you get a new rad, be sure to change the pressure cap, they\'re crap.

Shame on you rotary specialists and all. I\'m telling your manager about this tut tut:D
Fly you may not see any symptoms for 10,000 or maybe more miles but those side plates will not be exactly the same as they were before.
