my gearbox was re built last year and it appears to be getting a nice rumble again when you let off the clutch peddle. from memory this is the layshaft that causes this. now seeing as this box was rebuilt before i had it done with new selectors should i get it done again or just get another sound box from elsewhere instead??? i wondered if maybe the casing was gettin a little bit shot thats why its failed so quickly. the box is run on silikolene synt s oil since ive owned the car. my car is currently runnin 450fwhp so it quite a lot but others run these boxes with more success than me. also in the last year ive done no more than 2000 miles but most was on track days.

im currently running an act 6 puk clutch with a sprung friction plate handles the power with no probs but can be a little grabby when cold and as everyone knows an uprated single plate clutch like this is quite heavy on the peddle. (not that i have ever had a prob with it) could this be making things worse for the gearbox with with the power ive got?? maiking power take up be a little severe??
is it time for me to consider a twin plate clutch instead now to make everything a little smoother??

Hi, i\'ve just posted on the other thread that\'s running regarding clutches, but to provide my experience to your situation;
Engine is producing between 450 rwhp and over 500 rwhp depending on boost setting.
I converted from a single to an exedy triple carbon.
The RX is now used on track as I broke gearboxes at an alarming rate drag racing (using reconditioned stock gearboxes).

I still break reconditioned gearboxes on track and that\'s not due to me crunching gears. I find its usually up shifts from 3rd to 4th that break something.

I have noticed a big difference having the triple clutch in, much smoother gear changes and it has a close to stock \'feel\'.

So, I would recommend changing for a twin or triple carbon clutch (manufacturer is your choice).

My car rarely see`s the road, normally mapping!

I run approx 450 ish bhp, and have just lost 5th syncro but had no other issues until now but on Ross at dragons recommendation am changing my clutch for a carbonetics tripple plate also.

I think he still has one in stock at av cheap price!!
