Mph converter?

I have a 92 FD and the dash is playing up, it\'s been converted to mph from kph. If I buy another dash from another FD which has kph dials etc would I just be able to plug it straight in as I\'m assuming I have some sort of speedo converter fitted that I could use again to ensure the new dash gave me my speed etc In mph or will my dash have been modified?

the mph convertors are usually the first thing to go unless its a good quality 1 been retro fitted

The fault with the dash is the mileometer display has stopped working which is apparently quite common, I don\'t think the speed converter is playing up as my dials work fine. I\'m just wondering if another dash will plug straight in read in mph as my current one does.
