Nice sunny drive yesterday, but managed to get the keys locked in the car last night :reallymad

The engine was ticking over and whilst I was opening the garage door the locking mechanism jammed and I was left with all my keys, wallet, AA membership card, all in the car.

Anyhow cut a long story short the AA managed to get a rod down into the car through the top of the door gap and operate the electric windows and hey presto the car was opened.

The problem seems to be the drivers door mechanism siezes up after a jet wash and I want to get into the door and lubricate all the bits incl the lock and window mechanism etc.

Searched the mrc site but cannot find how to take the door cards off. Is it just taking out the cubby box etc and there are screws underneath?

Thanks

I found the easiest way is to take off the plastic cover behing the door handle and spray a lot of spray grease or WD directly onto the moving parts of the door handle. You should get a good amount running down the rods that does lube up the internal moving parts  :Thumbs-up

Thanks Dave, I did do that before (after a previous jet wash) and it worked for while. But my alarm system sometimes locks the car once you start the engine. When I got out to open the garage door, the lock must have reset itself since it was sticking hence I was locked out with the engine running.

Normally I open the windows when I park the car with the engine running but this time forgot and it locked itself.

Also I have a dodgy speaker so time to get the door card off

I see, ok there are i think 3 or 4 screws around the outside of the door panel and 1 under a small pop out flap in the base of the handle that you pull the door shut with. Grab the bottom of the panel and give it a pull and it should come away from the door, if there are any other screws in there then they should be easy enough to spot once you start pulling the panel off.
