hey guys, duno if any of you have done this but worth a ask around here,

ok, i have a Mitsubishi Evolution6 intercooler and i am looking to fit it onto my 2nd Gen T2, ok, its not the problem that the intercooler is too big and wont fit the space in front of the radiator, its actually the fact of where will the 2 piping go???

the one coming from the turbo into the IC is fine as there is a slight gap next to the radiator, but it is the one from IC into throttle body thats giving me a headache!! where do i run the pipes to?? under battery then under power steering pump?? under the whole engine bay and back up againts the the back? relocate battery and try and squeeze the pipe between the power steering and suspension strut??

ok, next problem, where will the BOV go?? leave it there and run the pipe from the BOV mount to the IC? but if i mount the BOV on the custom pipes then what do i do about the pipe heading at 45 degrees up to the BAC valve where the original BOV mount is??

or has anyone got any pictures that show how all the pipes should/could go?

cheers guys as i really want this fitted and spending nearly 1k on an aftermarket one just doesnt seem too practical for my finances at the moment, and this evo6 IC is about 3-4 times bigger then standard!!  (about the same size as the Greddy V-SPL IC :rollin )

thanks, Pat

Email T2rew, I know he was trying to fit a skyline intercooler into a T2.

I fitted a front mount to mine,  i relocated the battery to the boot and squeezed the 2.5 inch pipe between the wing and the power steering. Its not ideal but worked, you might have to rubber it where it touches metal.  Its worth either buying (or modifying your own) the bigger flange that attaches the rubber pipe to the throttle body as this is very small and no point increasing the pipe size but having a small inlet.  I had a 2.5 inch pipe welded onto the front of mine so instead of pointing backards it points to the side of the car which makes attaching the i/c pipes easier and more flow..

Another option which i have now done to my FD is take off the power steering pump and replace it with an electric one from a citroen saxe. Its very easy to wire and plumb and can be put anywhere, its also smaller that the stock one.

400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

thanks for replies guys,

fitting a electric pump from the saxo???  are you sure it will fit? so it doesn\'t need to be linked to the main pulleys then i guess? so would i need to do anything to the pulley on the fan then, as this will mean 1 less belt, (just a thought as if the air pump was removed then a dual alternator pulley is needed, so thought it might be the same principal),

well i went to a local garage that does a lot of turbo work, and they said they will do all the pipes for me provided i mount the IC myself and get 2 90degrees silicon elbows for them, and they will do it for 150 quid, bargain?? or can be done myself??? :(

they seem to think that there is enough space under the power steering pump and the battery, what do  you guys reckon?

anyhow, i will attempt the IC mounting, as for the pipes, i will have to have a closer look first to see if i can do it myself, as i am just not too keen on measuring up the lengths of pipes i need

if your fitting the i/c what are they charging you 150 quid for, just to make the piping?  what will they use?   ss,ali or mild steel?
You can run the pipework any where you like but the shorter the better.

well the 150 quid is for making up of all the piping and fitting them all in for me too, as for the material of the piping, i am not too sure, but i would have expected it to be ss or mild steel, and yes i know this just adds more weight, but performance wise, does it affect it whatever the material is??

ali is better for heat dissapation but harder to make the pipes as it doesnt bend as easily as ss or ms.  i shouldnt worry about the weight. FC\'s arnt the lightest anyway but i do like them. I would definately go back, my fd is quick but i miss the comfort of an FC.

i see i see, cheers tony for the info,

yea well i dont mind about the weight really, as i will be ditching a lot of the interior as i use this car for drift club events, and i would have guessed that a few pipes will not make too much difference, or am i wrong??

yea i am so surprised of the difference between FC and FD\'s comfort wise, my mate has a FD, but my car just feels so much more spacey and the seats are so much more comfortable, but i must admit, the lines and curves of the FD look so much better,
