rebuilid help, main hub bolt on front (19mm)

hey.
 
having problems getting this off.
 
got a 3/4" impact gun rated at 500 lb/ft, which took about 3 seconds to remove the flywheel nut.
 
but the gun has so far not been able to remove the 19mm nut on the other side of the engine.
 
also broke a 3/4" - 1/2" impact reducer trying to remove the bolt with a 3/4" breaker bar and a bar for leverage. had to get someone to stand on the engine stand to keep it on all 4 wheels. also had put a heat gun capable of 500 degree c on the bolt for about 10 mins before breaking the reducer.
 
ordered a 3/4 19mm impact socket today, so thats the next step, but the bolt seems to be on extremely tight!
 
if this fails, im at a loss as to what to do next, any suggestions?
 
and just to confirm, the bolt comes off anti-clockwise as normal? its not a reveresed thread? going by the videos i have its a normal thread.
 
any suggestions welcome!!!

I had to get mine drilled on the washer and down the centre of the bolt to get it to release. Proper Swiss cheese style.

and you had to get a new one im guessing?

I took mine to my local garage, they had to use a 1" impact driver for HGV lorries to twist it off and even then it was bloody tight!!

The vendor who took mine off was brutal,he heated up the bolt and bits with propane mix,then put a huge rattel gun on and it moved :Typing

It\'s simple really, you need to put flywheel back on and lock the flywheel and use a larger breaker bar around 4 feet long or more with the 3/4 drive.If you find a scaffold pole it will work too in conjunction with the large breaker bar.
The trick is not heat as you could distort the e-shaft, instead tie the engine down so it won\'t move, a long piece of ally bar about 4 foot long bolted to the flywheel and resting on the floor will steady the engine.(You\'ll have to drill holes)
If you have trouble finding what you need go to someone who works on heavy equipiment like diggers or lorries and I am sure they\'ll help you with "Borrowing" a tool or even getting them to do it if you take it to them and you give them some beer money.
We welded a 19mm 3/4 socket to a flywheel nut and use that so you could also try that method with the large breaker bar using the 54mm socket.
We warranty our rebuilt engines for Detonation, track day\'s and RWYB and NOW for 30 months which is two and half years or 30,000 miles
We also build all types of race or road engines.
We build race and track cars too.
Any kind of porting undertaken.
Single turbo conversions.

Carl - Mine was so tight, even with me (18st) of counterweight on the flywheel, the front nut wouldnt budge and we ended up using an impact gun as ive described above.

the DIY-RE videos have a novel way of securing the flywheel against the engine using chains though, looks to be the ideal way forward.

I jute figured that since the engine block was so damned small once id stripped it all down, I might as well bung it in the car deadlift and go to the garage lol!

It is normal for it to be that tight.
In reality it is not tight what is happening is the narrowness of the bolt means very little leverage action is happening in comparison to the 54 mm flywheel nut.
The 19mm pulley bolt is done up to 180 ft/lb of torque and the 54 mm is done to 360 ft/lb.

glad to hear its normall anyway, was worried there was a possibility it was rebuilt before and the 19mm was used to tighten against the 54mm nut.
 
i have the flywheel stopper to suit, so just waiting on getting the 3/4 19mm impact socket, then go at it again with the breaker bar and leverage bar, if that fails, a garage with 1" impact gun
 
i thought the 19mm was 80 lb/ft, is it defo 180lb/ft when retightening?

The heat is not for deforming/expand metal but to melt the damn grey fixing paste...
