Hi there fellow rotary lovers :)

I have recently bought myself a 3rd Gen RX-7 and i am absolutly loving it :) i have wanted one since i was a boy and finally have one so yay me lol

I have had it about 3-4 weeks now and seemed to have developed a problem. Sometimes when i put my foot down for full power in either 2nd or 3rd, it feels full of power like it should and sometimes it feels like its holding back like it is losing 50 odd bhp ?? my instinct tells me coilpacks but am unsure ??

Any ideas welcomed and appreciated :) One of the first things i did to the car was had it compression tested at hayward rotary and got good results with high 7\'s all round.

by the way the car is completly standard other than a racing beat exhaust.

Thanks,
James

usually pipe fallen off or loose somewhere

Have had a few of the obvious vacuums on top come loose but have tied them all on now and they have stopped coming loose. Plus the problem doesnt seem to have an effect on my boost as i get a 12-8-10 boost pattern regardless of the power drop ???

thanks

Are you still running the std twin setup? If so it may be rats nest pipes decaying. Mine used to behave similarly to this with only the first turbo spooling properly

RpmTuning

Thanks for the replys peeps, yes the car is still running standard twins in sequential. How would i fix the problem of the rats nest ? would it be a case of just going round and replacing all the hoses for new ones ? Plus would it be a teurbo boost problem at all ? as i always get the same boost pressures on the gauge ?

The pipe in the rats nest are rubber and not in the best place tucked away near the turbos so the heat will decay them over time, so yes replacing the pipes would be a start. If your is a 99 spec then it\'s a small box that needs to be replaced if not then there\'s alot of pipes that need replacing

Or just go for a small single setup

Thanks for all the advice peoples,

All fixed now, turned out to be a growing split in the lower intercooler pipe, replaced with hard pipe now :)

Good news buddy, a relatively nice, easy and simple fix :)
