lol is it ilegal to remove the cat? that amy be a bitch i know u can get fines for ur car bein to poluting but who cares about the enviroment :cool  (exept greenpeace) but there ganga smoke dose more damage to the ozone than our cars

The air pump supplies fresh air to the cat but more importantly it supplies air to the manifold. If you remove it you may get uneven (jerky) running at low speeds and you may fail your MOT.

What is the problem noise ?

Gutted my cat the other week (smashed it to bits with a long bar).  Ever so slightly louder at high revs and that\'s it.

Pip at WGT says to not remove the air pump & ACV as it messes up the idle (unless you have an aftermarket ECU), so i didn\'t.

my dad wants to go single in the winter after we have had some fun this summer but i hope we can jsut pop a pfc in there during the summer without taking it off the road for more than a day. i understand the pfc base map runs rich on fuel so we should bea bel to boost it more safly

The electrical connection to the air pump was disconnected when I bought my car. The car had been fitted with an ARC super induction box and it didn\'t have a provision for the air pump intake. Anyways, my car idled like ass and it chucked all kinds of shit out of the exhaust at tickover, so I\'d be inclined to leave your airpump and cat well alone if it\'s working....especially if you want to get it through it\'s MOT. I\'m hoping that when I eventually get her started again (she\'s been sat since last october.....disgusting I know!) that reconnecting the airpump will sort the idle out and not asphyxiate me everytime I start her in the garage!
