The problem with carrying weapons is that everyone will do it and someone will do something stupid and then people will die.  Stringent control on weaponry is a good thing!  However if you want to effectively defend yourself against an aggressor armed with anything other than a firearm then unarmed combat/self defence classes are well worth it, they\'re perfectly legal and unless the person trying to attack you is equally well trained, in the case of these rioters then I doubt they will be, you should be able to disarm and disable an opponent.  My police mates and guys in the legal profession say that were you to be unarmed and attacked by an armed assailant then if you disarmed them and in doing so broke their arm that would be considered proportionate.  If you subsequently beat them to a bloody pulp then that would be unnecessary.

On a lighter note. A little nob that works for my boss put on Facebook that he had a lovely day in croydon and had a tv etc for sale(or words to that effect) from the riots. It was all in jest, however it made the papers, the boss went ape and weather its true or not, last I heard he had a cost at work from met and was taken away. Good job, serves him right

In Syria the Riots stopped when authorities used tanks

in Italy the Riots stopped when Police fired rubber bullets

In Greece the Riots ended as police deployed water cannons and tear gas

Quite right. He is a gobby little turd anyway so this may teach him a lesson. I would do him for wasting police time if I were the fuzz

HaHa, i think we need to be a bit more harsh with crowd control. Rubber bullets are more than acceptable, or those weird bean bag things you can get. Apparently they hurt :evillaugh

The weird bean bag things were found to be too harsh, they killed more people than they would like.

Quote from: Lacey;781594Stun gun = illegal weapon for civilians to use and / or carry

Police grade (or anything close) pepper spray = illegal weapon for civilians to carry / use

these two are classed as firearms in the UK, so if you use them in any circumstance expect a jail sentence.

i\'ve got about four years of jujitsu behind me and whilst i\'ve learnt how to break/dislocate people\'s arms, i\'ve also learnt that against groups of people you\'ll stand no chance, no matter how much training you have.

Lacey

Yup, like I said illegal weapons :/

Awesome, Wandsworth council have given a woman an eviction notice from her council home because her son was involved in the riots!

They deserve a medal, i hope more will follow! Seems some in this country might have a backbone!
