Wondered if anyone has any experience with these turbos on a rotary? have heard they apparently spool quick for a massive turbo, would they be any good on a stock port engine?

any info would be appreciated, cheers folks

I have heard of Holsets being usings on big power FCs, a \'large\' turbo for a piston engine is a medium turbo for a rotary due to the extra exhaust gasses etc, example being that a T88 can max out a supra, but can\'t max out a rotary.

Here is an example on youtube, streetported 20B, large Holset, 900bhp

ah i see i see, these are usually off big truck or pickup engines i think, how well would these work on a stock port? i have the oppertunity to get one and thinking about it

What is Stavros running on driftworks? The guy who\'s part of the redline mag team? I\'m sure he is running some monster thing on his fc? Maybe check out see if that helps there is a progress blog on DW.

Hope it helps.

never thought of him :) will have  look cheers man :)

HX50 sounds huge but im not sure of how big different holsets are. Rice racing claim that porting isn\'t really needed anyway

hx50 is maaassive, aparrently due to their design they spool quick and make good power despite being so huge, and like mitch says a big turbo to a piston engine is medium to a rotary, i think it might work, just wanting a second opinion on the matter though

What kinda size is it compared to something like a T04R? Is it bigger? Unless you want massive power I wouldn\'t go for it. A T04e or something similar will be much nicer to drive and would probably respond well on stock ports

depends what hotside a/r you running.
i\'ve got a t04e with .86 hotside and extended street port engine. comes on boost very easy and early on!
as long as you dont have a huge hotside then stock ports will be ok.
2 doritos on a stick woohoo :rollin
