Hi everyone.

Im new to this website and i am currently in the search for a Mazda RX7, now i realise that buying one can be a difficult thing to do with all the pressures overhanging i.e engine rebuilds, other things going wrong etc and being a rotary engine than the piston engines im more used to.

Basically on Friday i may be purchasing an RX7 i dont really know what to look for or listen for i.e knocks, bangs etc so was wondering if anybody in the west midlands area was interested in taking me out for a small ride in theirs (i wont drive it dont worry) just so i know what to look/listen for as the last thing i want to do is buy a complete wreck of a car and follow my heart more than my head.

I know this might sound rather cheeky of me to ask this but i hope to be an active member of the forum and be part of your "family" here.

If anyone can spare any time it will be greatfully appreciated i\'m just a little apprehensive..  :god

Kind Regards,
Matt

Hi Mat,

Which generation if Rx7 are you buying?

Thanks :wave

What history does the car have, rebuild, mileage, comp test, who\'s looked after it etc.

It\'s a relatively small community, has the current owner been a member on here or any of the other rotary forums/clubs.

The sort of thing I\'d be asking.

I\'m in solihull but you wouldn\'t benefit from a ride in my second gen - totally different driving experiences.

I started with nothing and I have most of it left

You really should take someone with you who knows at least a little about rotaries , it\'ll all end in tears if you get it wrong :Nono!
Do you have a link to the car as someone may recognise it?

matthewbellamy

Hi Guys its a third generation (i think) i wish i knew someone who know about rotaries as i dont lol. I do have a link to the car http://pistonheads.com/sales/2857104.htm i have spoke to the guy and he seems pretty genuine and has alot of receipts and the rebuild was done 8,000 miles ago. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks :)

Ows

another about same price and colour on there that would be worth a look as says proof of rebuild and has good compression.
Has also been mapped by a good tuner.

Proof of rebuild is absolutely essential imo

rebuild was done 8,000 miles ago at a cost of 5-6k, he has receipts so that is peace of mind to be honest.. i guess i will just have to go tomorrow and hope that its going to be as good as it looks :)
