What a difference, thank god I\'ve now got rid of those 20 year old ones,  I\'ve fitted Nexen CP641 at £50 + vat each and its no longer like driving on  ice.
Have a great Easter everyone cos I\'m smiling all the time now.

    Dibs

Ian65

20 years old? Bloody hell Dibs, they must have been like driving on solid pram wheels!
I\'m glad you\'re still here to tell the tale.

The trouble is you forget how well these cars hold the road, now for new poly bushes ..............

Ian65

That\'s right... none of the 1st gens I\'ve owned in recent years handled as well as my 1st gens did back in the 80\'s. My A reg was only just over 3 years old when I bought it and the handling was razor sharp.... the suspension seems to \'rubber band\' these  days on them with old perished parts.

That\'s the problem with my Elford now....because the car is on the original bushes and springs which are probably 27 years old, it floats about all over the place.... the engine is outperforming the suspension at the moment.
I\'m going to put the refurbed suspension and polybushes from the shell I\'m getting rid of on it... it should handle like new then.

No but I did put one of the 20 year old\'s as the spare as the one that was in there was a Dunlop and by the look of it an original tyre from new, so only 26 years old ..........:rollin

Old man lecture coming up.....

You must rotate to include the spare. Otherwise It\'ll be scrapped oneday and still unused.

Fortunately our FB\'s are pre-skinny-spare.

The Merc has different size tyres on the back to the front and a skinny-spare That\'s rubbish as far as rotating goes.......Grrrrr

£70 a wheel is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry cheap compared to what i paid at the wheel wizard company!
I\'ll list the costs of what i was charged, possibly i\'ve been ripped off,i don\'t know, but wheels are as good as new.

Chemically strip 5 wheels @ £10 each =£50.00
Paint inserts silver x 5 at £40 each =£200
Polish faces x 5 at £65 each =£325
Diamond cut & lacquer x 5 at £20 each =£100
2 alloy weld repairs at £35 each =£70
Fit tyres free of charge
Valve & balance x 5 at £12.50 each =£62.50

Total £807.50
vat @ 15% £121.13
Balance £928.63

Now where\'s me hankies,:Hammer

ta stu..

Should say i got stainless valves fitted, but total price is extortianate compared to pristines charge of approx £70 a wheel!
Now i\'m filing for insolvency!

syebba

Don\'t forget your centre caps from mazda, approx £15 each if yours have bubbled!

Ian65

Ian, these people http://www.lepsons.com/home.phtml have come highly recomended to me by someone in the trade "nod nod wink wink" so they are the ones I\'ll be using.

Has anyone tried to refurb the centre caps ?

David Nock (RIP)

All I\'ll say is my Pristine Wheels are still just perfect.

i might have got a good Agent mind, but the Factory quality is spot on.
