Right then, Im still barking up the same tree and looking at Alternative fuel (No im not a tree huger) Just cant face the increasing price of V-power which is now £1.46 at my local watering hole.

So talk to me about E85 (Ethanol)

From what I have read its a new fuel tank and teflon lines as the ethanol can eat away at both. Also have to run around 30% more fuel so extra injectors may be on order. However the benefits of being a higher octane (110ish) and reducing the combustion temps appeals to me.

So a few questions

Does this mean I have to change the fuel rails as they are billet Aluminium ??

What are the effects on engine life? seals etc.... ??

I will be giving Tim at RX motors a call when I get a chance but would like to hear your thoughts

thanks

Don\'t take my word on this but I\'m sure that here in the uk they aren\'t doing the e85 anymore due to no one using it due to all cars needing the ecus tweaking.

And even if garages do sell it you will be hard pressed to find one locally. Morrisons used to do it but the nearest one to me was at least 20 miles!!!

Get yourself some water Injection and use the standard crap fuel that is slightly cheaper. I have learnt a lot about WI lately and it is amazing, det is practically eliminated and carbon build up on rotors which can lead to engine deaths. ( this is my quick summary of what I have learnt, WI is the future in my eyes!!)

If you can\'t be arsed with WI, get your car mapped on sh¡T fuel and then go buy yourself acetone ( this is what is more commonly known as octane booster)

If you can find a place to get acetone from your onto a winner. Don\'t quote me on this but depending on the amount added to your fuel can raise the octane level much higher, reducing the risk of serfdom using rubbish fuel
