Just a quick question

I am going to be putting my new exhaust on the car either this weekend or the next,

when i removed the old one it was sealed without a gasket but with some form of sealant, this worked well and didnt leak in the slightest,

my question is how do i seal the exhaust back together?

do i use a gasket? or do i use another form of sealant and where would i get either a gasket or sealant?

there is only a single join going from the decat to the back box section

Cheers

Kris,

Try to avoid sealant....I have 3" gaskets in stock if you need them

Any particular reason to avoid sealant? Am curious that\'s all

How much for a gasket bud?

£3.49 each +P&P+VAT

Postage would be £3.50

So
1 would be £7.69
2 would be £11.88

Exhaust putty should just be avoided unless it is absolutely needed.  It wont necessarily give a perfect seal all round and will fall out when it becomes brittle.

I would get a gasket, that liquid gasket stuff is ok to put on each side of the metal gasket, but not actually used as a gasket on its own. It does go brittle and crack, if you are taking everything off to get to the exhaust etc its best to sort it right the first time, else you will have an exhaust leak and have to do all the work over again!

Ive always used gaskets and that exhuast paste together with good results, hell i even used it between the dp and tub. Though Im sure atomic rex have far more experience than me!
