DR SCHNITZEL

All,

I am thinking of getting a new toy to tinker with and tune up. (non rotary) I still have my FD

Shortlist is... for less than 12k

TVR, = CERBERA, GRIFFITH,
SKYLINE = R32 OR R34 (I DONT LIKE THE 33)
MISUBISHI EVO = 6 ONWARDS
SUPRA TWIN TURBO

I want this to be my DD as well as make 400hp when tuned up. Which of these is the most reliable at about 400hp. I assume ill get 25mpg out of all these on the MWAY at 70

I seem to be looking at alot of R34 skylines on ebay for about 8k at the mo.

I reckon the R32 will be the nicest.
RX8 High Power, Cusco Coilovers, Dotz wheels and flames. Shoe Size 12

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

400hp on a Supra is easy and commonly known as BPU if you want to google it. The 2JZ is a great engine and very strong. Should just about get what you are looking for mpg wise too.

I had a Supra TT that I used as a daily driver before I bough the RX - I owned it for 6 years! Great car and it would certainly fit the bill for what you\'re after. Not sure what power it was running as I never had it dynoed, it was a 6 speed VVTi, decatted, running 1.1 bar so maybe about 360ish - but you can easily get a reliable 400 out of them, and decent "economy" on the m\'way.
And don\'t let people tell you they\'re a "barge" (as I\'ve heard often on this forum!) - RX\'s are lightweight for sure, but that doesn\'t automatically make Supras and the like heavy (i\'d say pretty average weight by todays standards)!! I had Ohlins coilovers on it originally and it handled really well... Reliable as well - other than a flat battery it never let me down.

Having said all that, and R32/34 would also be a good buy (I\'m not a big fan of the R33 either).

Good luck with your choice. :Thumbs-up

Personal preference mark 4 supra :)

Brett

Get a TT Soarer rather than the Supra... Same potential with a nicer body ;)

turbo boy

I`ve always fancied doing an old skool American muscle car, but if i had to choose a car from yor list supra everytime.

DR SCHNITZEL

I looked at soarers they are cheap as chips. Are supras a lot cheaper to repair than skylines? i think i have narrowed it down to supra or skyline. Thats if im in the country in a few months

SiH

Soarer\'s are 1JZ, not 2JZ found in the JZA80.

IIRC the JZZ30 all autos as well. May be wrong on that though.

Ford Capri with an RB30 engine? :)
