Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has done this on their FC?  If so how did you seal it?
Basically I cannot fit in the car properly when I put my helmet on, so I am thinking about getting rid of the mechanism for the sunroof.
I never use it anyway (partly through fear that it might not close when needed), so really do not need it.

Thanks

I was planning on doing this but have sourced a replacement sunroof.

I think with other cars some people have taken everything out and just welded a plate over it. Think it\'d be fairly pricey if someone else was to undertake the work for you

Thanks for the reply.  Yer I kind of thought that this might cost a bit.  My brother suggested just getting some kind of sealant (can\'t remember the specific make) and then using this.  Just rip off all of the mechanical bits and then seal the lid.  Might look into this option further.

Thanks again

Same sort of sealant used on windscreens should do it, that stuff is frigging tough!

Been looking into this a bit more and have hit a few stumbling blocks.  Basically if I go down the sealant root, then I need to make some brackets up to support the roof in the first place.  This makes things awkward as I then again have something inside the car to potential hinder my helmet.

So the other option is a not do professional option of ripping it all out and riveting and sealing a piece of aluminium over the hole.  This saves more weight, gives me more space but obviously looks a little unsightly.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

you could fold out the edges of the roof hole and weld/rivet some aluminum to the underside of it. This means the ally will be slightly lower that the top of the roof by about a mm or two, you could then just get some filler over it and paint it. That should make it look like there was never supposed to to be a sunroof there in the first place. Would also give you the additional room
