iv been reading up on hear and noticed that there are a few under 21\'s that have fd\'s.

but for some reason when i try and get a quote on one they all tell me you have to be 21?

at the moment im insured with sky but i dont really like them as they dicked me about alot when i had a crash.

as far as my policy gose im 20
driving for nearly 3 years
one crash
no ncb
no points.

i understand that its gona cost me a fair bit to get insured i was expecting around 2500 mark. but it just rediculous. the ones that will insure me are 5k+.

what can people recomend. ? i really want a fd. im only going to use it sdp as i will have a daily.

and my previous car was a ek9.

help me?

i\'m finding most are saying 25 really lucky i am 25 on monday so i will insure mine then. still quite expensive though. try admiral i am pretty sure they gave me a reasonable quote 800 or something.

Try Peter best 01376573033. I`ve got no ncb havn`t been driving in 4yrs my best quote was with admiral for £809 then i tried peter best who insured me fully comp for £274!! Thats over £500 saving!

Its a fair step up from what you have. I got mine just before I was 25 and the company I was with put the age limit up to 30.

The biggest thing that won\'t help is the lack of NCB.

I know the feeling of wanting one and I waited a bit longer. If I had known now what I had done I would have bought an mx5 before owning the FD and not a FTO GPX ! I watch them running round the track and they are awesome bits of kits with bits added on !

The insurance is just the start of the expense of owning a FD !

i can handle the cost of running one. its just it anoys me how people who are like 19 are insured on them..... but when i try the same company they say i have to be 21.

and dont you have to be 25 to get insured with peter best.

im trying to do it in my dads policy with me as a named driver. but thats more exensive for some reason evan tho he has full no claims.

There will always be people with more cash. I can\'t understand an insurance company offering insurance to anybody under 25 if I\'m really honest. You are just about getting over the driving like a complete nut stage. I\'ve owned mine for 6yrs now and there is nothing cheap about the running of these cars ! They can be hugely rewarding but a huge drain on your bank balance even when nothing is going wrong.

I was lucky that having a new engine I slowly built up to what the car was capable of and it is now a track prepped monster, but the journey has been long !

Is your postcode linked to a Blackspot on the postcode system ? There was a thread with the list of risk level for all major postcode not that long ago !

i tried it in 2 places, 1 in cheshre where my mum and dad live and at raf waddington which is where i live, and i shouldnt think a raf camp is a blackspot.

im getting good quotes now. iv realised that its the imports i cant get insured on. im fine on the uk spec. 2400 in my own name, fully comp with admiral.

now iv just got to find a decent uk spec,
