Wiring a rear fog light from front foglight switch..

As per the title folks, i need to wire a rear fog light to get the RX through it\'s MOT.
 
Luckily, i already have front foglights so i am trying to wire the rear one to the fog light switch in the centre console.
 
So far, the rear light is mounted (in a way that it can be removed after the MOT and not leave any trace ;-) It is earthed to the chassis and the positive wre has been routed through the boot and under the carpet to the centre console.
 
Here\'s where the issue is.. I am thinking that i need to wire the positive into the wire that is live only when the switch is turned on, but i\'m not sure which one?
 
The 2 main choices from diagrams i have found are red/yellow or white/red
 
Has anyone done this before? and if so, which wire did you tap into/ how did you fit the rear fog so it comes on when the fog light switch is turned on???

Check out this thread in the tech section click me it shows you how to convert to a reverse light to a fog light and has the wire you need to splice to on the switch side which is yellow.

Thats the wire i have tried and it doesn\'t light up when i put the fog light on.
 
Suppose that means that somewhere along the line, there is a break in the new wire or it\'s not earthed correctly.
 
Oh well, i\'ll take another look tonight.

one thing to remember I did mine like the one in that guide ans it failed the MOT for the bulb not being bright enough, coming on at the same time as the front, not being on the it own switch and no indication that the fog light was on! I don\'t take it there now and have modified a front fog light switch now that does the rear light and lights up when on no problem at the last MOT.

Yep, you need an LED or something next to the switch to show the rear fog is on.

You could just buy another switch for the centre console and wire it to that completely separately?

When I did mine for the second time lol I modified the light in the original switch to come on when the light is on. Passed the MOT fine.

all i did was unplug the connector for the rear heated screen, ran a bit of wire to where the reverse lights are and put some connectors in. all i need to do is take the light unit out, replace with a red bulb and connect the wire.
