Hi All

My 96 FD badly needs a service, I am taking it to a non RX7 specialist ( good garage anyway- used them before for minor things) as I can not get hold of the mechanic I usually use.

Where exactly is located the petrol filter and does one really have to take the elbow to change the sparkplugs?

The fuel filter is a ..... to get to and is up near the diff

And no you don\'t need to take the elbow off...but it is easier to do it that way, and it is only 4 bolts that attach the elbow to the throttle body.

Hello mate

How are you?

How is racing?  Do you have dates when you are next on the track?

We still fancy a trip to see you race and make a day out of it, you are on the way to Bath, right?

The car has got to go up to get to the fuel filter right?

Is it visible once jacked up?

i\'ve always found the plugs easier to get out from underneath the car, takes me around ten minutes these days!

the fuel filter isn\'t visible, at all; you can just about see the bracket that it\'s mounted to. the best way to get to it is to lift the rear of the car up and hook a socket over the top of the rear sub frame, you should be able to get the bolts out from there (have fun getting them back in :)).

Hi

I took the car to a non RX7 garage and they did have fun firstly trying to locate the fuel filter secondly changing it

It took 2 mechanics and some swearing to get the job done LOL

I took the advice of telling them to remove the elbow and they still took a little while to change them

2 hrs but £60 cash – not bad, but now they noticed that my de cut silenced mid pipe is blowing – more money

£60/2 hours isn\'t bad actually, it took me twice that to do the fuel filter by myself. i only had a set of chunky 1/2 inch ratchets which are nigh on impossible to fit in small spaces!
