knock what does it all mean

Hi all. My FD has been more than happy with knock levels of around 16 max, today I have a red heat light flashing on and off and the commander is saying knock levels around 72!! is that bad? and what is this heat light all about?
Seems to drive ok if not a little under power
any ideas guys :confused:
