POWER FC PROBLEM or NOT

Hi Guys just a quick question! I Recently purchased a POWER FC for my 95 FD of fleabay!!! and installed it. I did not start the car because I have a water seal failure and i\'m currently saving up for a rebuild Streetport, Single Turbo (T51R) etc and i\'m also unsure what map is on it but when i turn the ignition on the Radiator fans come on!:confused:....now i\'m no expert but is this ment to happen? could someone just let me know. other wise its seems to be ok hand controler working etc. Many thanks.

is your air con button turned on with the interior fans on? if so thats why lol.

I wish! so would you say the P/FC is faulty or is it something in the settings?

Sounds more like a short in the system if the fans come on just by turning on the ignition.

Well...it does not happen with the original ECU install so if it is a short then would it be in the P/FC???

i know on the powerfc using a pc you can adjust when the fans come on... maybe they set to always on?

If your Power FC is secondhand the map probably has the fans coming in at a lower temperature, and considering you have water seal failure and your coolant is below the sensor this is probably why your fans are coming on straightaway

sounds like you could have been screwed!! If your fans dont come on with the ECU connected then that eliminates a wiring fault with the car! i had a similar problem but my fans wouldnt turn off even with the ignition off until the battery died! I\'d get it to a rotary tuner and have a look over the map setting etc... just hope you havent been screwed just like i had been screwed by a couple of rx7 community members buying a low milage replacement turbo pack to find out the seals were worse than mine... turbo timers that done work etc etc.. suppose you could try Data initialize on the hand commander and delete the current map to the factory default apexi map? keep us updated.... although i have heard that Apexi Pfcs can have a tendancy to do silly things? maybe where all the engine failures come from? have you opened the ECU up and checked for Water marks? does it smell??

MaLicE and BlitzBoy I hope your both right i\'ll check the settings when I get home. nuki if your right i\'ll just bite the bullet and buy a new one with those yellow LED commanders :p ( someone has got to stop the chain of losers selling ....E ) Well I suppose I wont find out what\'s really going on with it until I get all the money for the build ( and my weddings out of the way )

yehreally Great thanks i\'ll check it out.

nuki it had been opened but not by me and when i received it the packaging and
the P/FC smelt of perfume so maybe that is a tell tell sign....hmmmm!
