My girlfriend and myself decided to enjoy the sunshine yesterday, so took a drive to berwick apon tweed for an ice lolly, two birds with one stone, young lady is happy, and i get to play with the car! Anyhoo...

Drove down from edinburgh fine, both turbos kicking in as usual, however on the way back up, i was overtaking a caravan and a car started to come the other way (it was a good distance away so still safe) then the second turbo didn\'t kick in, it made a disturbing noise instead and a vibration (sounded like air trying to get past a hole far to small very quickly), i floored it and it began to kick in and fortunatley made it round the caravan with less distance between me and the oncoming car than i would have preferred, and definitly less distance than my GF would have preferred!

From then it would do the same thing whenever i tried to put the foot down. I switched the boost controller off and it would only boost to 0.6. Whenever i put the boost controller on it would go beautifully to 0.9 on the first turbo but the second turbo would not kick in until i heard and felt this vibration noise, when you depressed the accelerator further it seemed to pull through it but didnt sound feel nice at all!

I could not find any pipes disconnected or collapsing at idle. This morning i fired away (at legal speeds officer) from an M3 with both turbos kicking in perfectly, and in fact all the way to work it was fine!!??

Could this be just because it was a rather hot day and i had been pushing the car a bit or something more sinister?
Its never happened before and touch wood not again!

Or should i start checking all the pipes again?

Help/advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Mine was doing this last year a few times, but turning it off and restarting always cured it.

I did stop and try that, left it for about 30 secs, but it didn\' make any difference. It did seem fine yesterday once parked for an hour but i was in the centre of town and couldnt really test it. And as i say its fine overnight. Perhaps it just needed longer to reset!?

My main worry is that it does it again at an important time like it did yesterday, dont fancy switching it off and on whilst trying to overtake!
