Hi guys anyone know of anyone currently scrapping a first gen car the list is a bit of a wish list but might give her one last chance before taking the saw to her.
1. front chassis rail needed urgently have to have her on the road to be able to keep her about to start on a large house extension and no parking so has to be taxed.
2. rear sills both sides one foot past start of door
3. drivers door
4. black interior s1,2 or 3 fine
5. drivers side door rail say 10 inch section where the top hinge sits on main frame section

other bits are an easyish fix but would prefer to have bits to weld in without having to fabricate the lot time is my enemy!

sure Dave has a list of cars currently being broken sure you will get the bits you need

Here\'s the list for April Mick, but I guess you\'ll have perused it earlier?

Mick, this one might be worth a look...

It belongs to an ex RX7 nut called John who has a lockup on a local farm and it used to be packed with 1st gen RX7 stuff. I\'ve had a few spares off him over the last 15 years.
I didn\'t know he still had the unit until I saw the ad for this car a few months back.
I remember this car in the unit but can\'t remember if it\'s a series 1 or a series 2. He reckons it was an Elford turbo originally but I never looked at it that closely to verify that. ( he had 3 or 4 1st gens in there at the time but wouldn\'t let me take any bits off this red car cause he wanted to put a new engine in it and put it back on the road.

The last time I saw it was in 2002, still in the unit. I bought a spares car and John wanted the engine out of it but I didn\'t hear from him again and assumed he\'d changed his plans.

I was talking to him a couple of weeks ago and he\'s got this red RX7 and a silver one still in the unit plus some spares, mainly panels, bonnets, wings, etc. Sadly no tanks or trailing arms ( he weighed the suspension and axles in when the price of scrap went up!)
I\'m going to have a look at a bonnet over there soon and I was going to offer to take some pics of this red car and post them on the forum for him.....
he\'s had it for sale for a while now with no luck ...... needs some photos really.
I don\'t know what this shell is like corrosion wise but it has been dry stored for at least 15 years to my knowledge.

I think Dave has spoken to him for the reg so might be able to confirm which series car it is.

Mick,
re your leaking fuel tank on the series 2, I\'ve dug out one of my old 1st gen books and it states that the smaller tank (14.5 gallon) was only fitted to the series 1 cars as the spare wheel well was deeper on these cars and the tank was reduced in size to accomodate it.
The same tank was fitted to all series 2\'s and series 3\'s and this had a capacity of 16 gallons.
The easy way to tell which is which is the early series 1 tanks didn\'t have the drain plug in the bottom of them like the later, larger tanks did.

Your series 3 tank should drop straight onto your silver car, no problem.
If you can smell petrol, I\'d have a look at it as soon as....

otherwise you might end up like this!

That pic makes me glad I took my tank out and filled all the little holes :)
