DVLA tax rip off/angry 1985 fb owner

If a deal was agreed with mazda & the DVLA then it still makes no sense that two identical 12a or 13b engines are subject to the DVLA tax lottery.
If 1000 12a engines are identical in cc,which they are,then it\'s inconsistent to tax some at the full whack & others at the cheap rate.
These cars are pre c02 emmissions,they should be taxed on manufacturers stated engine cc,the RX8 is different,it\'s not taxed on cc,but co2.

What people also forget is if you have misinformed the tax man he is more that able to collect any missed fees. You may get it cheap now but if they enforce the heavier tax and you haven\'t been paying it then that money will be demanded back.

I\'m taxed on the higher rate on both my 13b\'s and do wish the FB was coming up for free tax now its getting to its 25th year. Surely its paid its due by now !

i just sent mine off when it was painted and i fitted the 13b as a 1.3 it came back changed so cheap tax!

my v5 thing says "cylinder capacity 2300cc" now i would love some one to show me where my clyinders are in my engine
 
any way i think we should all paint our cars and change our engines then paint the car back to original if you get the drift ie just change the engine size   if that dont work ill send them an engine to measure

just a quick note to all i took in original sales invoice and brochure with the V5 and acted dumb "they got it wrong look here is proof "
first post office refused but second one i tryed reclassified after they took copies of documents and brochure now only rated as a 1146cc
just try different places it does work..

in the grand scheme of things - they ONLY made a 1.3 in japan

Still begs the question why in japan their 1.3,in UK they sting you for 2.6.
Any regulation which is flawed/inconsistent is unjust & is open to challenging.

Tax is up for renewal at the end of April and sure as anything, a couple of weeks ago the reminder comes through demanding £190.00 for 12 months.
Went online yesterday to tax it and guess what...
it\'s now gone up to £205.00.
that\'s a lot of money for a car that hardly does any miles.
God help us if these idiots get back in again.

I too think this is disgraceful. ...... why should I pay double for a 26 year old car.....does anyone know a sure way on how to get v5\'s changed from 2300 to 1200?

£205, thats how much mine is too, hence why I am selling her, I cant afford to keep running her... huge shame but I simply cant afford it, I\'m even having to pay for just 6 months tax because i cant do the full 205... bloody stupid

I\'ve only done mine for 6 months.... come the end of October I\'ll probably sorn it and put it away for the winter.
I only did about 500 miles in it over this winter, I\'m not taxing it for that.

know what you mean mines hardly moved since Nov (not through choice! been out of work pretty much since July), i pay the lower tax but its still insured and will be due mot soon
