3rd gen. Been sat untouched for a couple of years... Help :)

Hey all.

Been a long time since I have been on here and my membership has lapsed but I have a question.

My 3rd gen (93 type R I think) was mot\'d and given a full bill of health a couple of years back (from Pip @ WGT) I had both turbo\'s replaced and a new Power FC installed and mapped (to 285bhp if I remember correctly)
Anyway to cut a long story short I had to sorn it and its been sat unused since then.

I was gonna sell but with the financial climate we have had I just never found a good time. Stupidly I have left it overly long and last week some fekker broke into it (no damage) and stole the ECU and commander... but not the stereo...

So I have decided I need to sell it asap. Does anyone know what I will need to do to get it started? What do I need to drain etc? I can get the RAC to get it to WGT I guess if need be but if theres anything I can beforehand any help would be appreciated.

Otherwise I am gonna sell as is. Theres no rust and I kept it well waxed etc so its still looking good.

So my other question would be - sell as is (no idea how much for) or do it up a bit with replacement ecu remapped?

BTW for reference this was Kermit\'s car originally - paid £7k for it and since I added HD lights and had a remap or two, replaced the radiator and some of the cooling system and both turbo\'s.

You can get the car towed as it is without an ECU. Depending on mods, if the engine didn\'t have any modifications on it and was only fine tuned using the Apexi ECU then a standard factory ECU will get you running again, just make sure you pick the right one for your year. You will probably struggle getting the engine to fire up after standing still all this long. The Apex seals probably stuck now and will need some oiling.

Like you said, the current climate is not the best for selling but if you need the money then you\'d probably make more money selling it in parts rather than a whole. You can still sell it as a whole, but you won\'t get much for it.

Out of interest, if you decide to break it I might be interested in the HID kit.

Seems to be a few nice bits being stolen from RX\'s lately.... your power FC, someone has had a set of wheels, tryes, bucket seats & leather seats & a set of RZ brakes..... does this all sound a little too coincidental? I know blackpool & reding are not next to each other, but does seem a little odd as they know what they are after by the sounds of things!!

shouldnt take you long to getting it running - i reckon mine was stood over 12 months without being run and its fine now

the more you spend now the better your return - if its a non runner and you sell it as that - you are asking for peanuts

so how much do you want for it

like already said - if the only mods were the ecu - then you can just stick a normal ecu back on

depends on how longs its been stood - but i would try and turn the engine by hand and see if it rotates , pull the plugs and give them a clean and then try and fire her up

you will probably find she is OK

Hi Edd, long time no see! 1st day ive been on here for years to!
Gutted about your car mate. I thought you had sold it, Ive still got the Knight Sport ECU i took off mine. Pip said it can`t be mapped its set as it is, thats why i took it off mine. Might do to sell yours though? or just plug in to see if she runs?
