I\'ll need to blank off the bit on air box then wouldn\'t I?

Ive got a 50/50 here as its been a while since I had an FD, but I think its the one that ive circled, the other is a charge relief valve. HTH

Came across a diagram, the one you circled is the charge relief.
The one at the front is the air bypass valve

Yep the black one at the front is the air-bypass(bov) its the furthest forward one, If you vent it to air then it will give the whooosh but you also gain an annoying off boost whistle.

Ok done it this morning. There is air passing through the vented bit of the valve when on idle/no boost. Is this bad for the car with regard to air leaks / MAF sensors / fueling?

G@NDY

Lol, 50/50 and got the wrong one. No its fine like that, I ran my car like that for years matey.
