Disconnected Air Pump and Decat

Hi chaps,
I have been working on my fd this morning, just found out that the air pump main plug is disconnected.
 
My fd has full straight through decat exhaust.
 
By looking into the SEARCH engine here, am I right saying that the function of the air pump is just to pump air into the standard cat? Is there no other function for the air pump on a fd?
 
If this is the case, I think I will be very happy to leave it disconnected until I got time to remove it and blank the holes in the near future.
