what are the options for replacing the old ignition coils? i\'m not going to be going for much power, maybe 300fwhp on stock twins, i just want reliability. :)

how much are new Mazda ones? or can you get direct replacements from someone like MSD?

thanks,

yeah, after a bit of digging it looks like this is easiest over stock.

a lot of people on RX7Club talk about hooking up an MSD 5/6 and some Blasters. When you do this do you use a seperate ignition control for each coil? so you\'d need four controls and four coils.

thinking about this, the leading plugs share a spark so you\'d only need one controller, right? so the circuit would be something like:

ECU signal + 12v power > MSD 6 > coil 1 > coil 2
.................................................||........||
...............................................plug 1...plug 2

then, are the coils better in series (like above, if my crap diagram makes sense :2Rolleyes) or in parallel? or am i just talking ....? :D

I use GM LS2 coils (off the Corvette) on my \'7. I use an alternative ECU but I have heard of RX-8 guys using them as a direct replacement for the Denso coils.
