hence why they are called Hiroshima Screamers young grasshopper :)

Nik da Greek

IIRC from reading a company history the Mazda factory (Or Toyo Kogyo as it was then called) was shielded from the worst of the blast by a being behind a spur of the mountain so wasn\'t too badly obliterated. Dunno about the fallout, though, maybe it was up-wind, too. Not funny, but it\'s true :Giggle

Hiroshima screamers is a good one!
Yeah the thread is a bit of a wind up,but it does make u wonder when men in white coats says it takes 1000\'s of years for the site blast fallout to become \'safe\'.
Look at chernoble in russia, still a wasteland.
Anyone got a geiger counter in their toolbox!

Hiroshima was a uranium bomb. (Nagasaki was plutonium.) Unlike Chernobyl, the bomb burst high in the air so there was no crater or local fallout cloud to contaminate the any structures not in the blast zone. In Hiroshima, neutron and gamma radiation damage was created by the fireball, so anybody/thing close enough to that was exposed.  Chernobyl\'s \'local\' dust cloud took off from the ground and circled the world. It was extremely dirty because the explosion was accidental not created and its effects were pronounced across a wider area because it began low down.

BTW I\'m not a member of CND but did once fail the exit test at a nuclear facility and had visions of returning home glowing like Homer Simpson.  It may be unrelated but as I get older I note there are some disturbing similarities between us. D\'Oh.

Well I don\'t think I will argue with that one...............
