front mounted intercooler

my rx7 fd3s is pretty standard it had a dump valve and blitz induction kit and a aftermarket cat back exhaust, question is can i just rip out my standard intercooler and just replace it with a nice front mounted new one? or would i need one of those hand commander thingys....

If you\'re still on the stock ECU, I certainly wouldn\'t fit an uprated IC without a remap, for which you\'d need to buy a remappable ECU like a PFC.
