Hi,

i have recently installed an alarm to the car and everything works okay apart from i cannot seem to get the door trigger wire locarted. I understand that i should be connected the trigger wire from the alarm to the door switch wire but when you open the door nothing triggers! tested it with a multimeter and the door switch wire shows 12v when the door is shut and 0v when open. /Is this right?

any help appreciated

cheers

The door switch is doing what it should. Is the interior light coming on? Does your alarm have a switch or function to sense voltage drop that is perhaps switched off?
Your original post didn\'t have to much info in it.
Cheers Phil

hi phil,

yes the interior light is coming on. and the alarm has two wires, either one for showing 12+v when door is open or one showing 0v when door is opened. I only getting 11.7 volts instead of 12 when the door is shut, tried connecting both wires and still no trigger when door is breached.

hope this helps

12 volts is just for reference, 11 volts is fine. The door wire from the alarm might not be a trigger wire, it may be for letting the alarm know if the door has been opened for rearming.
Is the alarm programable as the interior light should have set it off.

You are using the wrong alarm wire, you need to use the wire from the alarm that shows 0v when the door is open not 12v when open. The rx7 fd has a negative door switch not positive.

hi dark night,

thanks for your input
i have connected the wire you suggest and although im pretty sure the alarm is picking up that the door is now open( as it is allowing me to program with the the program button) it is still not triggering the alarm when breached! ahh

What make and model is the alarm so I can try to download the manual and see what connections you got. I have had the flu since I got back from hoilday so I haven\'t had the  chance to finish the last few connections on my alarm but there are just under 50 and once finished I will post a full write up.
