if i was to put a new/used ecu like Apexi what will it do as in how would it help
Apexi Power FC and Commander ? what the hell is that   whats it for
i can work out most of it but would it not need setting up to the engine as when you buy them new they say there go in any thing from a rex/mr2/supra

is mapping better then a plug in box ?

hi my names Jas YES THE DUM ONE who knows f all about this stuff :Hammer

The manufacturers map their cars to be a compromise between economy and performance, putting in a remappable ecu will allow the engine to be remapped for more power from the same setup or indeed a different setup if you had different injectors.

The power FC is the box and the commander is a digital readout showing what the engine is doing.

On my FC the boost level is set to 0.6bar, with my mapped ecu its ok to 0.9 bar which is what the turbo can do, so a different ecu will allow more power out of the same engine. With my engine, it was 200bhp out the factory, with a few mods and a chipped ecu its going to be nearer 300, a few bolt on bits and a different map has increase the same engine by 50% :)

Don\'t both with resistor chips or easy fixes, they usually only just fool the sensors to make the ecu use a different part of the map.

so to gain more hp
new ecu
remap
and if i still have any dosh left a fc thingy

would that be better for £ then some thing like all this v mount rads or coolers ? and hard pipes
An obsession was just the start.

something like a powerFC is a good mod to do early on, as you will need to remap the car when/if you do change the intercooler for a vmount or larger front mounted.  Getting a mappable ECU in early means it\'s just a trip to the mappers after any change like that.

apexi pfc opens doors.

you can put an ic and exhaust and not the pfc but then you have hit a wall, if you want more than a 30 (say) hp increase you need a pfc. if not no probs. get an i cooler, exhaust and intakes but your really starting to push the envelope of whats reliable on the stock ecu

Basically if you are looking to be able to get the best power and ability to change parts for your car get a remappable ECU, the PFC is popular for the FD, so might be an idea to get 1 of those as there will be lots of people who have experiance with them.
