well ive come across my first sequencial turbo problem, only took me a week, from what ive seen you poor lads must be sick of these type of topics.

But bear with me and the person who gives the right answer will recieve in the post a secondhand giant calculator and a melted snickers bar, now thats an incentive!!

Basically my second turbo seems to have a mind of its own, a couple of nights ago i noticed that my second turbo was kicking in late(ie above 4.5k) anything from 5k up until 6.5k before it woke up.

When it isnt working the boost drops from 10psi down the 5psi(above 4.5k) until the second turbo kicks in and we are back at 10psi

Im assuming something to do with a solenoid somewhere as its never at the same RPM, anybody have a clue which one it could be or infact if its something else as i would imagine its a common problem!

Thanks in advance for your help, remember the gifts are only a responce away!!

Have a good read, hopefully it will help diagnose the issue.

I would start with the 2 solonoids on bolted to the front of the UIM, I had issues with these & it made my second turbo very tempramental & randome!! the other thing to check is the 1 way valves on the small pipeing around the rats nest... these can also mess you around ;)

does anyone have a pic of the UIM with the solenoids attached so i make sure im looking at the right things as i read there quite a few solenoids in the engine bay around the inlet

Cheers,

jono if your right i hope you love melted snickers bars!

pigeon

my money is on it being one of the turbo control solenoids.

No need to do much searching as they are the only ones bolted to the UIM ;) the others are mounted under the UIM on a rack affect screwd to the engine block :)

Also check the pipes in this region ;)
