thanks for the advice.  What does removing the air pump do?  I want to do as much myself as possible or il never learn lol.

the air pump takes air from the intake and pumps it straight to the exhaust.

if u have a custom exhaust it may have been disconnected, could still be there though which is extra weight u dont need :)

erm ok then.

what is the point of pumping air into the exhaust? Is it to try and reduce temps etc?

emissions, i believe its pumped into the cat to aid in some sort of reaction (can someone confirm this?) if its not that its just adding extra air into the exhaust to make it apear better than it is.

Thus you don\'t need it, plenty of people have run full through systems with no air pump and past emissions tests :D

The air is pumped into the reburner to aid with combustion of the unburnt hydrocarbons - thusly reducing emissions :wave

buy a rotten turbo 2 and transplant the whole engine/box and ecu or for quicker acceleration keep the egi box.  Then sell off what you dont use form the turbo II and scrap the shell.  All the turbo II parts will fit straight into the egi shell.

That way you will have an easy 240-250 hp and wont cost you more than a couple of hundred quid.

You have to factor in rebuild costs to any porting work and you will looking at a minimum of 1200 - 1500 quid and its unlikely you will be able to do it yourself.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

£1200-£1500 is less than i was thinking which is a result.  I dont realy want to take the turbo route, more to be a bit different than anything else.  I know it is cheaper etc. to use a turbo but i think a screaming n/a would be the nuts.

If i stand out from the crowd there is more chance of sponsorship etc.  its a long long way off atm but you never know. :Giggle

you say that, but i only know of two FC\'s that drift at a high level (in this country). I think being in an rx7 makes you stick out enough.

though i definitely see your point. A nice bridge ported egi would be epic :D

i think im kinda in the same shoe\'s as you,im seeing what my options are when it comes to getting more power out of my egi.i spoke to tim at rx motors after the chaps on here recommended him and a rebuild and street port will be around 1800.Im under the impression that anything more than a street port like a bridge or half bridge is when u have to start spending out into fuel pumps injectors etc.
Im gona have mine rebuilt at the end of the year and just concentrate on handling mods and making her lighter.Keep me posted.
