short shifting issues

hi,has anyone fitted a short shifter to their fc??? ive just spent 2 hours fitting mine,its supposudly a 10 min job lol,the problem i had was the lower ball joint which is too small on its own without the urethane plastic shim/bush that is provided in the kit to slip into the selector thingy,but my shim was too big so i had to whittle it down till it would slip into the hole and then i could push the ball joint of the shifter into the shim to make it a nice tight fit.
Just wondering if anyone has had this issue?? bought it from the usa off flea bay.:2Confused:2Confused

ya i had to do the same thing,i didn\'t drive the car yet so hope its works ok,it feels a bit tight to be honest
