Sorry guys for always posting these "how do i do it" threads.. but you gotta help out a brother yeah? :) Plus I\'m a total n00b as I\'m sure you can gather.

I managed to pick up a TII front bumper with splitter the other day and according to the DHL website it should be with me any day now.

Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get the existing front bumper off and how to do it? Where bolts are etc etc..

Still needs sprayed but id like to get as much info as i can before attempting it.. Hopefully it wont come smashed to pieces also.. fingers crossed!

As always, your help will be majorly appreciated. x

Brett

Pdtaylor or Prof have both done this recently - as has Adereed.  With luck they will be along shortly :)

Its pretty straight forward - you will need to get the wheel arch liners out etc

Hey Gianni.
Right first off. You\'ll need to disconnect the indicators. In the engine bay one is behind the battery next to the headlight bottle filler (you may need to remove this to get you hand in) And one is the other side in the same place. They are a little black plastic plug just push the clip in and pull it apart. To help locate which plug (as there are a few around there) unscrew the indicators from the front 2 screws. The indicator should pull out, then put you hand in as far as you can and wiggle the wire whilst looking in the engine bay. You should be able to see which one it is. Then just remove the whole indicator assembly.

Next have a go at removing the wheel arch liners. I managed to get away without having to remove them fully. I just undid the bolt at the very bottom of the front liner. This allowed me to get my hand in enough to get to the 3 hardest bolts of the job.

On each side of the bumper there are 3 M10 headed nuts. If you slide your hand in from the wheel arch towards the bumper you should be able to feel them (top, middle and bottom) Use a socket set with both short and long extensions to get to them. They came undone easy enough on mine, they\'re just a bitch to get to.
Then once they are done get under the front of the car and you should see a series of bolt (M10 heads again I think) running along the front and towards the wheels holding the bumper on. Undo those. These have a habbit of breaking though so use WD40 on them the night before (in fact do this to all of the bolts the night before). Right once they are off your nearly done.
Go to the top of the bumper now and you should see some more of the M10 headed bolts running along the top right against the bumper. Undo those and the bumper should come off. You may need to give it a bit of a jiggle to loosen it a bit but don\'t force it. I think that is all Mate. Give me a buzz though if you get stuck. Oh and here is a link that might come in handy too.

I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

The ones inside the wheel arches (3 each side) always seem to rust and will more than likey shear but as long as your new bumper has all three each side then just go ahead and shear them if they do not budge. It wont take much I can asure you.  As said above WD40 will be your best mate if you want to save any of your studs.

Ade - Thank you for that detailed description dude! :) .

To my shock the bumper and splitter arrived today!! Thats 4 days since i ordered it and only 3 of them were for transit! They came from Malaysia.. I guess they don\'t use Jit Couriers Inc over there.. hehe!

Everything seems perfect apart from a crack on the splitter but this was advertised. Once i get that fixed and it painted up i will let you know how i get on.. I\'ll try get some pictures up.

Thanks again guys. You\'re the best! :) x
