Don\'t spose anyone has any secret soloutions to reattaching the speedo cable on an fc after you have taken the intrusment cluster out?? And i really dont want to have to strip the steering colum out to gain access to it lol. Its starting to drive me insane!

Has it fell down the back or is it still within arms reach? I\'ve heard you can get into it from the engine bay if you are really stuck. I actually had the opposite problem from you, i couldn\'t get the bloody thing off!

When this happened to me, the cable was still near the cluster, but the clip had slipped down the cable to the bulkhead.  It comes in near the big bunch of cables on the far right side - it\'s possible to push it back up towards the top by hand - but you will get scratched up badly :( :(

I share(d) your pain...

if i read that correct then the cable has not gone down the sleeve?
think u have to get the cluster out. i had this prob also and the speedo cable didnt seem long enough to be plugged back in.
what i did was pop the hood, then u can see the speedo cable coming out of the bulkhead and it clips onto sth solid in the engine bay. unclip it from the engine bay and push the cable into the cabin. that way u get bit more cable to play with n bit easier to plug back in.
once the cluster is back in then clip the cable back in place within the engine bay.

hope it helps :)

Yeah, done these so many times and the best way is as Liam says and unclip the entire cable, underneath as well and just let it flop. Your hand will get scratched ro hell when you try and put the clip back onto the cluster but hopefully you will have a bit more slack in the cable to play with. Once the clip is on, screw the cluster back in and only then re-route the cable correctly in the engine bay and underneath the car. This way you will not pull it out.

Could you just not unscrew the other end of the speedo cable from underneeth and try and push it from that end?

pdtaylor18

you can but its an ArS$ if it does not locate the drive in the housing, it can take a bit of doing but half the time its because the clip on the back of the cluster has come off and the drive will pop out .
