Is rotor lighting worth doing if your building a high bhp engine say anything over 500bhp is it a case of having the rotors lightened and ballenced and thats it or does the eshaft have to be balanced to?if that is done can you then look at having a higher reving engine?

You would need to lighten and balance then as well as clearance them :) be careful as you can only take so much out of a rotor before its structure is weakened, I think I have seen somewhere you can buy lightened rotors, I think it was racing beat. If you are going serious power you might think about getting a 2 peice e-shaft as at high RPM the e-shaft can flex causing the rotors to cause damage to the housings. You would also need to have additional dowels as the housing can also flex at high BHP such as that.

Racing Beat do Lightened and Balanced rotors for RX8s.  They are on www.mazdatrix.com but are about $2000 !!!!!!!!!  They lighten each rotor by about 80 grams.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

The only thing you need to do for 500bhp to your Rotors is clearance them if you are going to reving up to 9k rpm you dont need them lightened,
But there have been loads of 500bhp FDs that ran standard rotors as peak power arrives at around 8K or just before so no need to rev past 8.5K.
unless you want to go past 9k rpm then as been said before you need lightened them and clearance coupled with a 2 piece Eshaft. But I think Ross ran with a normal shaft with clearanced Rotors up to 10k but you will need ask him to confirm.
