this has probably been asked a million times guys, i\'m new to the rexx scene, and mine came with twin headlight units ( i suspect that they wont pass MOT because of beam pattern), anyway is it possible for the lights to be wired so that both inner and outer come on full beam, and just one on dip, if you see what i mean:cool

yeah mate you can - the way the standard set up is that dipped goes off when main goes on. My mate is a sparkie and i got him to make me a wee switching box that keeps them both on (ive got twin headlights now as well) when you go to main If you see what I mean!

Its essentially a wee box with a couple of solenoids in it - in sparkies terms its a NOT gate..in takes the OFF signal to the dipped when you put on mains and turns it into an ON one and hey presor - four lights....

Quick piccie....

Just as well really cos\' the four light arrangements are usually crap - can\'t see a thing with only two on!

a couple of guys on another forum reckon it might be something even easier, in that these lights have a seperate live to activate the relay and if you dont wire it direct to the battery, it only draws eneugh current to light either dip or main beam thruogh the existing wiring loom. gonna try it at weekend when i get some time off, will let folks know how i get on mate, but thanks for the input:Thumbs-up

Nae tother a\' baw\' mate, let me know how it goes - i\'d heard something similar as well - JUST REMEMBER TO PUT IN A SEPARATE IN-LINE FUSE!!!! lol

Well i eventually got to work on the rexx yesterday and guess what ? as soon as i removed the light units there was a red wire from both lights and in line fuses, both earthed to chassis, as soon as i wired them direct to battery all four come on full beam and two outers only on dip, also found what looked like leds coiled up under the units which after a bit of investigation appeared to fit into the four lights i connected a live to them and ran a seperate earth, i\'ve now wirede them to my sidelights and theylook like those lights that come on newer bemmers, think it must have been wired by stevie wonder LOL, anyway guys thanks for all the help and info:mmmm

Can you describe how it\'s actually put together? In terms of whats connected to where? I know you said it\'s direct to battery - but I assume you must put in a connection to the original circuit to tell them to turn on at some point? :2Rolleyes

yes mate the red wires that go direct to battery, are the live feed for all lights ( dip and main i mean) the lights use the existing wiring loom that you unplug from your old light units, this means that you are using your original lighting circuit as a switch and drawing power from the red wires with in line fuse holders which are both relayed ( already built in) then all you need to do is run a wire from the angel eyes to the live that goes to the side lights and just run the other wire from the angel eyes to any decent earth, sounds a bit long winded but i managed in about an hour and believe me if  i can do it a goldfish should be able to LOL:driving

Cheers for the info - my lights are slightly different though as I got Kaixen HID kits.....

For my main beam there is a live and an earth for each unit. I assume then that if I link the live direct to the battery (with an in-line fuse) and the earth to the existing light loom that\'ll work? Or have I got that the wrong way round?

Essentially what I\'m trying to do / what you did was use the signal from the existing loom to trip the relay on the line running direct from the battery - therefore turning main on as well as dipped.
