Sorting out my agreed value insurance again after beeing advised by Clive at Rotorstock to up the value by a little bit. Now I need to get the car valued by a member of the Institute of Automotive Engineers and Assessors. Is anybody on here able to do this, or is there anybody you would recommend to do this?

Thanks

Hi Gary,

Most strange as I have sorted out many many valuations, with all the insurance company\'s I have ever come across requiring a valuation from an officially recognised car club that deals with the model of car concerned,

Indeed as you know I sorted out an agreed valuation on the car you currently now own.

The only cars that I have never been able to value are our own personal cars for obvious reasons, and quite a few times I have had valuations questioned and only once had to agree a different figure because whilst the vehicle was irreplaceable the owner had put the buying price in a mag !

In the end we "split the difference"

On the subject of magazines it\'s worth knowing that these company\'s are not stupid as one told me that they keep an eye on mags and if they spot one of "their" cars with more mods than declared they keep a note!, so be warned.

Personally I would have thought it would be difficult for an outside organisation to value most any of our Rotarys as they are a "niche" as they would need to take into account replacement value and NOT use market value to value an at times unusual vehicle especially one as modified as yours,

My suggestion would have to be, relay the above back, see what they say as personally I believe that unless you are able to have a letter from Mazdarotaryclub as validation of the value of your car you will not receive a valuation that would cover the replacement of one of the very best FD\'s in existence here in the U/K,

Failing that, talk to a different insurance company!

Hope this helps,
All the best Clive

Just read this again and realised that having dealt with many assessors over the years, they would look at the market value of the car which is no good to you in this present financial climate!

Thanks Clive, sounds like I will have to look else where for insurance as they are saying that a club valuation would not be accepted.
What companies would you guys recommend!

Out of curiosity I googled for the Institute of automotive engineers, so i could give a local agent a call and ask a couple of questions. I found 2 local agents in Northampton, tried to call them but there number no longer exists!! luckily for me the car won`t be used now until next year (still got it insured with like for like on mods). But I would like to get this sorted out soon, looks like it could be a lot of hassle to stay with A-flux or phone around asking for agreed value on a modded import car!

Sorry didn\'t realise nobody had helped,

AON, Houghton Insurace, Norton Insurace, Chris Knott Insurace to name a few will recognise Mazdarotaryclub and help you insure your car properly,

As you know you have a car that if not insured properly will loose you a lot of money as you know this was the highest valuation I had got agreed for an RX-7.
